NSF TEU Conference at Trinity College
The 2017 mathematics and science TEU interns met in a joint conference on July 15, 2017 at the Jacobs Life Science Center of Trinity College. The interns met and were able to share their experiences in their science teaching program at Trinity and math teaching program at Brown University. The keynote address by Prof. Sharon Lynch of the George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development. Following this address was Robert Cotto, the Director of Urban Educational Initiatives at Trinity College and a Lecturer in the Educational Studies department, who spoke about Educational Policy in Hartford.
The afternoon was capped off with a panel discussion of “A Liberal Arts Preparation for a Career in Teaching”. Participating in the panel were Zuleyka Shaw (Trinity College) Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, middle school science teacher; Sacha Kelly (Trinity College) Two Rivers Magnet High School, Hartford, high school mathematics teacher; Tom Snarsky (Tufts Univ.), Malden (MA) High School, high school mathematics teacher and Ishrat Ahmed (Barnard College), middle school and high school mathematics teacher and TEU alumna.
